Nervous Energy

To say i am a bundle of nerves is an understatement. I am a cocktail of apprehension, nervousness, excitement, and feelings of "holy shit, i can't believe i'm doing this." But i am. Tomorrow is the "first day of the rest of my life" to be cheezy and cliche. It really is though if you think about it. I have no idea what i'm going to get myself into (as Rich reminds me of quite frequently :)), and whatever comes of it, there is no doubt in my mind that my life will be forever changed in one way or the other. So here i am, scared to death but hoping it's not as bad as I imagine, and telling myself i can handle anything for five weeks...Right?! :)

My travel plans are as follows: I fly into Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama tomorrow for five weeks of COT (commissioned officer training/boot camp). I graduate on the 26th and will fly to Eglin AFB in Florida where i will be in NTP (nurse training program) for 10 weeks. I will graduate on December 17th and should have 10 days of leave to use to visit everyone at Christmas and to move to DC and find an apartment and car before reporting for duty on the 30th of December at Andrews AFB.

Here's to the next five weeks...and the next six years!

What's in a name?

I finally got my act in gear this weekend, and started this blog that i had promised for so many weeks. I hope to be able to update it quite often in the next 15 weeks of training, but as i am joining the military this hope may be futile. Regardless, this will probably be the place to check out how i'm doing in my journey to becoming an Air force Nurse, if you so desire.

What's in a name? Last night my sister in-law Michele, and sisters Deanna, Mona, and I were having quite a laugh playing around with words (mona=mawna's stats :)) and from the ingenious mind of Michele came the name for my blog: karaflage, a play on my name and the word camouflage. Though silly, it could be quite symbolic if you choose to take it that way, as though in my camo and uniforms i become just another number and identity-less, i will still be Kara. :)

I am starting to get incredibly nervous to start but timed myself with push-ups and sit-ups, finding out that if nothing else goes right, i will at least be a strong competitor in PT! Until later... Kara Noel
