Christmas is a feeling. Nothing has become more obvious to me than this. Though i've been away from family the last four years, i always knew i was going home for the holidays and was surrounded my friends until then. Not so much this year! :) I spent thanksgiving with all my friends here in Florida, making dinner, volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity charity dinner, and then watching a movie at the mall. It was fun, but just not quite the same. The funniest part to me was the fact that there was a HUGE christmas tree in the middle of the outdoor Mall, with gorgeous lights and pretty christmas music playing. Mind you, it still felt like christmas when i was hiking superstition mts last year on christmas eve, so it wasn't the balmy weather...it's all in the feeling. :)
Now before you all start to feel sorry for me, i'm actually loving it here, and i've found my feeling. lol. :) Sitting here, listening to the old christmas classics, and my personal favorite (mannheim steam roller), drinking fresh hazelnut coffee with holiday creamer, it's hard NOT to get the warm fuzzies of the holiday! And because i overanalyze anything i can get my hands on...i've realized just how little christmas presents really mean to me. I Love love love love love buying christmas presents, but i think the part i enjoy is watching the face of the person when they open it, and knowing how much they wanted it..etc. Now that i can't have that, i've kind of lost the thrill of it.
In other news, i am almost done here! I have two weeks left of work and then i'm heading to D.C. to inprocess. I talked to my nurse manager, Capt. Jackson, and she sounds awesome, so i'm feeling a lot better about the whole move. Only thing is, she wants me to check in on the 22, and then i can take my house-hunting days or leave, depending on what works better. I'm still mulling all this over, and debating if i should just not take leave until later in the year and save it up...we'll see! Nonetheless, i'm very excited to start this next chapter of my life and finally get settled in my first semi-permanent place!
